As part of the Coughlan Companies, Jordan Sands continues a rich legacy of giving back to the community. Jordan Sands operates with the spirit of giving and reinvesting in the Greater Mankato area and beyond. As a testament to our commitment to our community, Coughlan Companies donates between 5% and 9% of pre-tax earnings to the community every year.
Jordan Sands Community Fund created a new scholarship with South Central College. The Scholarship will begin in the Fall of 2014 and will be an annual scholarship of $2,500 to the Mechatronics Engineering Technology program at the North Mankato Campus of South Central College. The scholarship will be payable to the recipient over two semesters in the amount of $1,250 per semester. An internship program specifically designated for SCC mechatronic students will also begin in 2015.
Jordan Sands is a proud sponsor of this one-day, one-of-a-kind stationary bike race with proceeds from the event benefiting Partners for Affordable Housing (PAH), Mankato, MN. PAH provides shelter for homeless families and individuals, and helps them to secure economically viable long-term housing.
More than 20 employees from Coughlan Companies participated in this great holiday event for Mankato families. They decorated a float, walked in the parade and handed out over 300 books to local children in extreme cold weather.
Coughlan Companies has agreed to donate $500,000 over ten years to the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota. The donation is a combination of cash and in-kind donation of Stone for the Quarry Zone Exhibit. The Children’s Museum will be located in Mass Transit Building in Mankato. Renovation work will begin soon with the possibility of opening as early as December 2014!
Each year over the last 10 years, Coughlan Companies has supplied 10,000 books to the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation’s annual Bookstart program. This program helps organizations in SMIF’s 20-county region distribute books and literacy programming directly to local young children.
Each year, Coughlan Companies partners with more than 250 organizations by providing book donations, sponsorships, and volunteer time. Each employee receives 16 hours of paid leave to volunteer at his/her favorite nonprofit organization. In 2013 alone, our employees volunteered more than 400 hours.
