MANKATO, MINN —October, 2017. Jordan Sands once again participates in The Mankato River Builders Association’s fundraising event, Raw Fusion.
Raw Fusion is a high-energy, abstract fashion show dedicated to bringing attention to the local building industry while raising funds and awareness for a local cause. Utilizing raw building materials as the inspiration for their outfit ensemble, each is judged for their uniqueness and flair.
This year, Jordan Sands and Capstone paired up to create an award-winning design and with the theme for the year being, “Are You Ready to Rock?”, they knew exactly what direction they were going in.
Using materials straight from the Jordan Sands plant such as, metal sheeting, mineral screening cloth and conveyor belting, the team created what they named, ‘Iron Maiden’. “The designs this year were incredible”, says Jordan Sands VP Brett Skilbred, “who would believe you could come up with these designs using raw building materials!” The competition was stiff with 22 entries and only 6 winners but the team of Jordan Sands and Capstone blew the judges away with their entry and came home with the ‘Rock Worthy’ award.
The 2017 entry was created by Heidi Thompson, Kyle Grenz, Anna Butzer and Alesha Sullivan all whom are employed by Capstone. Sullivan was also the model of the ensemble.
The team’s participation in the event helped to raise $28,000 for the Mankato Area United Way.
