Jordan Sands Announces Winner of 2017 Mechatronics
Scholarship with South Central College
Mankato, Minn. – October 18, 2017 – Jordan Sands announces student Zachri Volgarino as winner of the Mechatronics Scholarship with South Central College. Jordan Sands provides an annual $2,500 Mechatronics scholarship to one South Central College student each year. Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary degree that combines mechanical systems, electronics, fluid power, automation, and robotics.
“SCC students are very fortunate to receive such overwhelming support from our business community each year,” stated Erin Aanenson, Executive Director of the South Central College North Mankato Campus Foundation. “The Jordan Sands Scholarship provides wonderful support for students in the Mechatronics program as they pursue their degree in this high-demand, high-wage field. As we work to expand our partnerships with local organizations, we continue to grow our local economy.”
Volgarino is in his second year of the Mechatronics program, having returned to SCC to further his education. He is an officer in SCC’s branch of Skills USA, and has been working on other projects such as “MechaSketcher,” which will be featured at the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota in a few months. In his spare time, Volgarino enjoys mountain/road biking, hiking, and brewing.
