Brett Skilbred, Director of Project Development for Jordan Sands, and a founding member of the Industrial Sand Council has agreed to serve on the joint Rulemaking Advisory Panel for silica sand rules being considered by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA ), Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), and Environmental Quality Board (EQB).
Members of the panel will include local government representatives from Hay Creek Township, Scott County, Lime Township and City of Wabasha; citizens the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy, Lake City, Goodhue County, Winona County and Houston County. The Jordan Sands Community Fund has announced the creation of a new scholarship program with South Central College – North Mankato Campus Foundation. The Jordan Sands Community Fund scholarship will be an annual scholarship of $2,500 to the Mechatronics Engineering Technology program at the North Mankato Campus of South Central College. Jordan Sands sponsored and participated in the Pedal Past Poverty event on March 1, 2014 at the YMCA in Mankato. This event had 50 teams of 10 riders and raised $70,000 for Partners for Affordable Housing. The Jordan Sands team rode a total of 47.84 miles for the cause. This is the second year for the event and the money help provides shelter for homeless families and individuals and helps them secure economically viable long term housing.
